http://ping.fm/hOnBz Gerald Mosse and Alain de Royer-Dupre foiled the epic gamble on So You Think as Americain romped home in the 2010 Melbourne Cup.
So You Think was the shortest-priced runner in the Melbourne for forty years and the dual-Cox Plate hero looked to have the race in the bag one furlong from home as the 120,000 strong crowd roared their local hero to the head of affairs.
However, the heavily backed market leader could not repel the challenge of Americain and eventually surrendered second place to Maluckyday as they approached the line.
Americain became only the third European winner of the race and Royer-Dupre’s stayer built on his success in the Geelong Cup with a scintillating performance in ‘the race that stops a nation.
