Australian Open 2012 dates and live stream
http://ping.fm/76fXh The 2012 Australian Open runs from Monday 16th January until Sunday 29th January. It's the first Grand Slam of the year and as ever many fascinating stories are sure to unfold.
Djokovic undisputedly ruled Melbourne in 2011, not even dropping a set on the way to his second slam. Combining venomous ball striking with mind-blowing athleticism, he showed the capability to dominate the tennis world for years to come.
Andy Murray has finished runner-up at the Australian Open for the past two seasons. Is Murray destined to remain perennially on the cusp of major glory or can the British star make it third time lucky ?
Federer will have turned 30 by the time this tournament rolls around. The Swiss has been in a gradual decline over the past few seasons but you can never write him off. Will he continue to pick up major crowns into the autumn of his career or will he finally have given way to the younger generation ?
With Lleyton Hewitt no longer a force at the top of the game, Australian tennis is desperate for a new star. Bernard Tomic appears to have both the game and mental toughness to reach the top. Will this be the year when Tomic makes his mark on the tournament ?
The 2011 event saw the emergence of a new star in China's Li Na. One of the hardest hitters on tour, a Grand Slam title is well within her reach, something which would delight her vast fan base back home.
All these questions and many more will be answered, as new sporting history is written.
